After having patented the saxophone in 1846, Adolphe Sax began to concern himself with his new instrument's future.   He taught saxophone at the Conservatoire de Paris, he invited composers to write original works for the instrument and often published these works himself.   The pieces recorded here were composed by Belgian composers who were living in Paris during the middle of the 19th century.   The Sax Players perform these works on instruments made by Sax himself.
